Kathy Jurado Muñoz

Kathy Jurado-Muñoz, Consultant, is a former Assistant Secretary for Public and Intergovernmental Affairs, U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). In that position, she directed internal and external communications for the largest civilian agency in the Federal government.
She is an accomplished government affairs and public relations professional. Prior to joining VA, Ms. Muñoz was Director of Government Relations at the University of South Florida in Tampa. She was a member of the 1992 Clinton Campaign team and served as press aide to Hillary Rodham Clinton and press secretary for the Clinton/Gore Campaign in Florida. She later worked with the Presidential Transition Team which briefed incoming Cabinet secretaries.
In her home state of Florida, Ms. Muñoz was Director of Communications and Public Affairs for the Florida Democratic Party, guiding the party's state communications and legislative agenda. She also served as vice president of corporate communications for Home Shopping Network, Inc.
Ms. Muñoz has extensive experience in Federal, state and local government relations. Her tenure in Washington includes working as an associate of the firm in the 1980's. She began her career as a staff assistant for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Post Office and Civil Service.
Ms. Muñoz received a B.A. in Government and International Relations from the University of Notre Dame. She was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. She is a recipient of the Department of Veterans Affairs Exceptional Service Award.
